Trying to maintain high spirits during the workday? Well, what you eat has a lot of power, and eating the right foods within a well-balanced diet can improve your mood, according to Bonnie Taub-Dix, a registered dietician who also works for the American Dietetic Association. Below is a short list of foods that you can eat to positively impact your mood.
1. For breakfast, try oatmeal or eggs. Both of them contain an amino acid that helps to boost levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel good.
2. Blueberries make for an excellent afternoon snack. The antioxidants will help to ward off workday stress.
3. Compounds in chocolate can be helpful as well. Eat a small piece to lift your mood and to give you the small energy boost you need to avoid late-afternoon fatigue.
4. For dinner, boost your serotonin again with salmon.
